Promotional Products for Campus Sustainability Month

Since 2003, hundreds of green campuses have participated in Campus Sustainability Day (historically held on the 4th Wednesday in October). Building on the success over the past decade, AASHE (The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) has invited campuses to participate in events throughout October during Campus Sustainability Month.

Tying into Campus Sustainability Month, Project Green Challenge is an annual October event in which participants compete in daily green themed challenges for prizes. Since launching in 2011, this initiative has engaged over 25,000 students directly and millions indirectly, on more than 1000 campuses in all 50 states and 45 countries. Other Campus Sustainability Month events taking place across the country include book swaps, costume exchanges, campus clean-up events, tree plantings and more.

With every order, no matter how small, Eco Promotional Products, Inc. plants a tree in honor of the purchaser. In recognition of Campus Sustainability Month, from September 1 thru October 26 (Campus Sustainability Day, 2016), Eco Promotional Products will plant a second tree for any order placed with a .edu email address. Just to name a few fundamentals, trees provide oxygen, improve air quality, benefit the climate, conserve water, preserve soil and support wildlife.

Eco-friendly promotional products and giveaways help increase participation in Campus Sustainability Month events. Promoting bicycling on campus is always a popular theme for campus sustainability. Cycling reduces transportation emissions and traffic congestion. Two promotional items popular with college students are a stainless steel, multi-purpose tool and long-lasting pant strap.

Many college campuses have banned the sale of single-serving plastic water bottles on campus and encourage students to fill up from water refilling stations. These refill stations allow for water bottles of virtually any size to be refilled with ease. The water comes out fresh, cold and filtered. With more colleges moving to eliminate the sale of disposable water bottles, college students appreciate receiving reusable water bottles as giveaways.

Disposable party cups are another wasteful item commonly found at colleges and universities. Many colored party cups are made from polystyrene, recycle code 6, which is not widely recycled. To promote waste reduction during Campus Sustainability Month, encourage students to use reusable party cups. Eco Promotional Products’ party cups are not only reusable, they are also recyclable when they reach the end of their useful life.

Campus groups will benefit from custom imprinted apparel to further promote their messages. Eco Promotional Products carries high-quality t-shirts and hoodies with a variety of eco-friendly attributes. Students will appreciate the fit and feel of super soft cotton clothing over less expensive items made from polyester. These apparel items will be worn time and time again and the recipients will be walking billboards for the group and the group’s mission.

Colleges and universities are preparing the next generation of leaders and we hope students carry their commitment to sustainability into the workforce.
